What Is Oak Glen?

Location

Oak Glen is a small agricultural community located in the foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains. At 4000-5000ft above sea level we experience all four seasons.

How Big is Oak Glen

Oak Glen has one central road that winds from the 10 interstate freeway in Yucaipa, CA up through the two valleys that that comprise Oak Glen, Potato Canyon and Wilshire Creek Canyon.  The same road then travels back out of the hills and returns to the 10 interstate freeway in Beaumont, CA.  The whole stretch of Oak Glen Road is a scenic loop that travels a total distance of 20 miles.  Oak Glen is  a 5 mile section of this road and passes apple farms, shops, restaurants, group camps, nature trails, bakeries, cafes, ciderys, and historical landmarks.

Since the first apple trees were planted in Oak Glen more than 100 years ago, Oak Glen has been a unique microcosm of agriculture and entrepreneurial spirit.

Oak Glen- "in the words of a Local"

One of the most scenic spots in Southern California, Oak Glen is nestled in the heart of Apple Country, where it is cooler in the summer and winter offers enough snow to make snowmen. Folks can come up and enjoy a simpler way of life, surrounded by the fresh crisp air and partake of the beautiful change of seasons. We invite you to come be a part of our family traditions.  An hour from Los Angeles or Palm Springs, spend the day having some good ole’ country fun.

The mile-high climate of Oak Glen provides a beautiful change of season, unsurpassed in Southern California. It’s always 10-15 degrees cooler than it is in the valleys. Apple orchards cover the slopes laden with apple blossoms in the spring and apples in the fall. The scenery is like that of New England and only 90 minutes from Los Angeles on the way to Palm Springs. Oak Glen offers wholesome family fun in every season.

Visit orchards, mountain tree fresh apples and cider, enjoy hot apple pie and other fresh baked apple treats at one of the family restaurants. Feed the animals in the animal park or browse through the many specialty shops in the Glen.  A Bed and Breakfast, RV facilities as well as camping and group accommodations are available.

Fall Season - Come experience Apple Harvest, Labor Day Weekend – Thanksgiving Weekend. You can pick your own apples, raspberries or pumpkins, press your own cider, and enjoy country music, dancing, dinner events and other old fashioned activities. Explore and hike the vast and beautiful offerings of nature at The Wildlands Conservancy. Visit the historical Oak Glen School House Museum or take a horse drawn wagon ride through the orchards. Marvel at fall colors as brilliant as those of New England.
